Kid Rock ‘gives credit’ to Eminem, Taylor Swift for using their political voices

Kid Rock took to his social media channels on Friday to address some of his across-the-aisle counterparts in the music business.

“I love Eminem,” says Rock, who starts out the short video shirtless, strumming his guitar. “We’ve been friends for many years. I don’t agree with his politics, but I do give credit to him and people like Taylor Swift for standing up and not being afraid to be vocal for that which they believe.”

Eminem introduced former President Barack Obama in Detroit on Tuesday at a rally for Kamala Harris. Taylor Swift endorsed Harris in September. Rock has been a longtime supporter of Donald Trump.

“Thinking differently and having the freedom to do so is what makes this country great,” Rock says. “My stance is unequivocally MAGA, because I know in my heart, mind, body and soul, that President Trump will make America great again. God bless the USA.”

The video comes at the height of a heated election season leading up to the Nov. 5 election, and tones down some of the rhetoric that has been flying back and forth between candidates and their backers.

Rock and Eminem teamed up on “F— Off,” a track from Kid Rock’s 1998 breakthrough album “Devil Without a Cause.” Rock later appeared in the video for Eminem’s 2013 single, “Berzerk.”

In 2019, Rock tweeted about Taylor Swift, “Taylor Swift wants to be a democrat because she wants to be in movies….period,” he wrote, and went on to say unflattering things about her. “Oldest move in the book. Good luck girl,” he wrote.

As vocal as Kid Rock has been about his political beliefs in the past, he’s long championed healthy debate between differing voices, and in 2012 he made a short film about the subject, opposite Sean Penn, titled “Americans.
